The spirit of Novali Group has it's roots in the University of Illinois at Chicago's Engineering Design Team (EDT). After graduating we wanted to continue the practices we learned at EDT. Several of us who graduated would meet up on Sundays and soon we were at work on personal projects and we started to build up a machine shop. Part of our experience in EDT was the ability to manufacture our own designs. We managed our own machine shop.

These casual meetups were nicknamed BrainDrain and we continued to develop our space while creating projects. Our interests in renewable energy, manufacturing, and automation led us to develop them into our workshop.

A couple of us began contracting our engineering services and eventually formed the business, Novali Group LLC. We finally completed our project. Converting a milling machine to run off of a 24VDC battery bank connected to 800W of photovoltaic panels.

For now the business is keeping us busy. Our side projects have slowed downed while we work on projects for others.
